Late August in New York, and Zone 1 has an autocross on the calendar for the 22nd. If you've never run one, the appeal is pretty simple: cones, a clock, and a course short enough that you get multiple runs at it — so the mistake you make on your first pass is something you can actually fix by your third. It's the least expensive way to find the limit of your car with nothing hard anywhere near you. Most folks run whatever they drove in on. Course walks matter more than horsepower, every time.
