California Inland Region PCA has an October date on the calendar, and it's worth the drive: autocross at the Santa Maria Airport on the 10th. If you've never run one, autocross is the cheapest way to find your car's actual limits without risking much more than a cone. You'll get a walk of the course, a handful of runs, and a lot of standing around in the paddock talking tire pressures between heats.
