Luftgekühlt
Luftgekühlt is the air-cooled one. Founded by two-time Le Mans class winner Patrick Long and creative director Howie Idelson, it takes exactly fifty years of Porsche — 1948 to 1998, nothing water-cooled — and stages it somewhere that is not a field. A tobacco warehouse, a concrete plant, a film-studio backlot. The setting is half the point.
It has also stopped being a Los Angeles event. Luft 11 was Durham, North Carolina; Luft 12 is metro Atlanta. Like Parade, it now moves each year and announces the city roughly six months ahead, which makes it something you plan a trip around rather than something you drive to on a Saturday.

Can you bring a water-cooled Porsche?
Not onto the display field — the show is air-cooled by definition. Spectators arrive in whatever they like, and general parking is not marque-restricted. Display cars are curated by application rather than open registration.
Where should I stay for Luft 12?
Trilith Guesthouse, the hotel inside the venue itself, is already booked out. Luftgekühlt lists a group rate at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Fayetteville, and there is a cluster of chain hotels along the I-85 and Hartsfield-Jackson corridor within twenty minutes. Fayetteville is a small town, and the airport hotels are the realistic fallback.
Is anything else on that weekend?
Yes, and it is worth knowing about. Motul Petit Le Mans runs at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta from September 30 to October 3, with the ten-hour race on Saturday October 3 — one week before Luft. Porsche Cars North America's headquarters and the Porsche Experience Center Atlanta are also in the metro. Anyone with the time can make a fortnight of it rather than a weekend.
